Mapping Constraints
Hard Constraints
- Satellite imagery used as the base layer
- Cadastre parcels larger than 150 hectares
- Proximity to transmission lines: within 5 km and less than 85% constrained
- Presence of watercourses and waterways
- Areas of native vegetation
- Topographic suitability: slope below -6% for solar, -18% for wind
- Agricultural soil classification (Type 4 considered unsuitable)
- Proximity to dwellings and existing infrastructure
- Nearby competing renewable projects
- Heritage considerations, including Aboriginal artefacts and historic buildings
- Crown land exclusion
- Renewable Energy Zones exclusion
Soft Constraints
- Telecommunications infrastructure
- Native title claims
- Local Government Area (LGA) social risk indicators
